Fix GPS permission, accuracy, or tracking problems

Understand the reported uncertainty and recover from a weak position fix.

Tractor GPS · Updated

  1. Check location permission

Allow location for FieldForge in browser or device settings, including precise location where available. Return to Tractor GPS and select Enable Precise GPS.

  2. Wait for a better fix

Move outdoors, keep a clear view of the sky, and check the reported ± uncertainty. A timeout does not guarantee a permanent failure; the location watcher keeps trying.

  3. Match accuracy to the job

A smooth route is not proof of precise positioning. For narrow passes or reliable sub-meter positioning, use a compatible high-accuracy receiver whose position is available to the device. Check compatibility before relying on it.

  4. Keep the session visible

Keep the app in the foreground and the device powered. Field Mode requests full-screen display and a screen wake lock where supported; browser and operating-system background restrictions still apply.

Before you rely on the result

The public demo uses simulated points and does not test your device’s GPS, receiver compatibility, or actual field accuracy.
